We have extensive experience dealing with a wide variety of contaminants including LNAPLs, DNAPLs, chlorinated solvents, creosote, MGP wastes, and volatile organic chemicals. We also have substantial experience characterizing and remediating sites impacted with metals, brines, and other inorganic chemicals such as arsenic. In addition, our experience includes investigating and characterizing the transport of per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFASs).
We pride ourselves on helping clients by designing and implementing passive remediation strategies such as remediation by natural attenuation (RNA), monitoring-only remediation programs, risk-based corrective action (RBCA) approaches, and administrative controls that control costs at properties. If active remediation is required, we have extensive experience designing, implementing, monitoring, and closing pump-and-treat, soil vapor extraction, air sparging, in-situ bioremediation, and in-situ chemical oxidation systems. We are also experienced at designing and evaluating permeable reactive barriers, thermal remediation enhancements, and other emerging technologies.
HRS principals have worked under almost all water-based regulatory programs, including CERCLA, RCRA, and the Clean Water Act, as well as numerous state-led regulatory programs. In addition, we have experience obtaining regulatory waivers under CERCLA.
