In late June, HRS Hydrologist Fern Beetle-Moorcroft presented “PFAS No-Purge Groundwater Sampling Update” as part of the National Ground Water Association’s Fate of PFAS: From Groundwater to Tap Water Conference in Westerville, Ohio.
The presentation provided an update to a no-purge pilot study, which began in 2019.
This pilot study involves evaluating a no-purge groundwater sampling method for per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS) using disposable bailers, by collecting and analyzing 84 side-by-side no-purge and low-flow groundwater samples at monitoring wells throughout a PFAS plume in an alluvial aquifer.
